Research at INS
The Dept. Innovative Nuclear Systems deals with the area of technology development of advanced and innovative nuclear reactors and fusion devices.
Research will meet the future development directions, which are from today's point of view of three categories:
- For the short-and medium-term, mostly the advanced reactors of GEN-III are used that have a high level of security
- In the future, reactor systems of the fourth generation (Gen-IV) will be developed which take into account not only security, but other aspects such as profitability and sustainability
- Transmutation systems and the fusion reactor belong to the innovative nuclear systems in the long term
The research program at the INS is concerned mainly with the basic thermal hydraulic phenomena that occur in the advanced and innovative nuclear systems.
